Weekly Devotions

National Shrine of St. Jude at ChristmasIn Sunday’s first reading we hear about the house of God. God says it is not in our hands to build, but that He will give us a living temple. The true house of God, the place where he lives, is none other than Mary, the blessed mother. It is Mary who opens the door for the coming of God to the world and who received the son of God. In some ways, when we accept the presence of God in our lives, we also become a home for God and open the door for His presence in the world. In spite of our doubts, hesitations, and fears, if we say yes like Mary, we will facilitate the coming of God to a world that is in need of salvation, peace, and forgiveness.

We pray together: I pray for the gift of a pure heart, St. Jude. May Mother Mary’s gentle guidance be with me in times of temptation.

St. Jude be with and help find cures for all the little children sufferings in the hospital that bears your name. Human intellect and science can only do so much. I beseech thee in the Name Of Jesus to find cures for diseases that ravage their little bodies. Grant Marlowe Thomas a long happy life to continue her good works at your hospital.
If I may ask two intentions: Help my body and mind to continue to heal from the many surgeries of the past year so I may continue to serve others well. Give my husband and I the opportunities we need to support our lives on this earth until we have no other needs than to be with Christ our Savior in the Kingdom of Heaven. This I ask through your intention in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Lord Jesus, the merry-go-round that I’ve been riding has not been fun. As a matter of fact, it makes me sick to my stomach. My wife ran away to an adulterous relationship while we were building a home for our two children Samson & Nichole. Now she has hired an attorney to destroy our family God given dreams, inheritance for the children. But I believe in Your presence and in Your healing powers. I am riding with You now. Amen (Bless all, my prayers are with you also). Thank you
