Solemn Novena to St. Jude, August 20th – 28th

Solemn Novena to St. Jude

St. Jude ThaddeusIt’s not too late to send your intentions for the Solemn Novena to St. Jude for Healing, August 20th – 28th at the National Shrine of St. Jude. St. Jude calls us all to experience the intercessory power of Novena prayer in our lives.

I invite you to visit the Shrine each day of our Healing Novena to pray in this sacred space via our virtual Pilgrimage to the Shrine.

We also invite you to experience the simple beauty of this sacred service by viewing the St. Jude Solemn Novena slide show and sharing it with your family and friends on your website, blog, or on Facebook or Twitter.

Below are all nine days of prayer in one message. Please bookmark or print this message and return to it each day of the Solemn Novena to St. Jude.

DAY 1 — Saturday, August 20

Today we center ourselves in peace as we begin nine days of Solemn Novena Healing prayer. St. Jude listens to our prayers, and offers us hope when we become weary.

Intention to St. Jude: St. Jude, strengthen my faith in your healing touch. Intercede for me with God in my times of trial and help me put my trust entirely in God during the days ahead.

Prayer to St. Jude:
Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of.

Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (here make your request) and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever.

I promise, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen.

DAY 2 — Sunday, August 21

On this 21st Sunday of Ordinary Time, we come together in prayer with a special healing intention to St. Jude.

Intention to St. Jude: St. Jude, you teach me what true healing is all about. Help me to be an instrument of your healing grace through my words and actions. Give me strength to hope against hope and the courage to greet each new day. Renew my faith in God’s healing touch and help me put my trust entirely in Him.

Amen.

DAY 3 — Monday, August 22

Today we celebrate the Feast Day of the Queenship of Mary, Mother of God, as we begin the third day of Solemn Novena healing prayer together. Mary, Jesus’ mother and ours, is always ready to intercede for those in need of healing.

Intention to St. Jude: St. Jude, you who loved Mary, bless my heart with adoration to the Blessed Mother and my own mother. Through your prayers, keep me in the love of Jesus. We ask this through the love of God and the Holy Spirit as well as of our mother, Mary, who is also the Mother of God.

DAY 4 — Tuesday, August 23

On this fourth of nine days of Solemn Novena prayer, we join together in the belief that there is power in praying with and for one another’s petitions.

Intention to St. Jude: St. Jude, you spent your entire earthly life working to spread the Gospel and share with others the Good News of God’s Kingdom. Teach me how to live with the kind of love Christ showed to his neighbor so that I, too, may be a light in the darkness for others.

Today we begin the fifth of nine days of Solemn Novena prayer with St. Jude. This day we remember all those for whom we have promised to pray.

Intention to St. Jude: St. Jude, you know that suffering makes me feel hopeless sometimes. Lift my burden with your healing, hope-filled intercession. Inspire my thoughts, words and actions today, so that all I do and say may be pleasing to God and serve His kingdom here on earth.

Prayer to St. Jude:
Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of.

On this sixth of nine days of Solemn Novena prayer we remember all God’s children throughout the world in need of healing as we offer our prayers together.

DAY 7 — Friday, August 26

Today we give ourselves over to trust in God as we begin the seventh of nine days of Solemn Novena prayer to St. Jude.

Today we pray for spiritual growth as we begin the eighth day of Solemn Novena prayer. The more steadfast our faith, the more untiring our hope, the more constant our desire, the greater will be our ability to receive those gifts God wishes to give us and communicate the fruit of his love to those around us.
