Day of Prayer for Cancer

Day of Remembrance & Healing for CancerMay the Lord bless you and keep you and all those you love, especially those affected by cancer. Throughout today’s liturgies at the National Shrine of St. Jude, we will pray in a special way for all those who suffer from cancer. We invite you to join us today, and on the first Wednesday of every month, as we call upon St. Jude for the healing of cancer. Join our prayer circle of healing by posting your prayer to our Day of Prayer for Cancer wall.

Weekly Devotion – April 30th

Weekly Devotions

Solemn Novena to St. Jude for HealingChrist’s message in this week’s Gospel is both inspiring and challenging. We’re asked to give our whole selves—our lives—over to God. Jesus says, “This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.” Our devotion to St. Jude gives us the strength we need to trust in God, and turn ourselves over to Him.

Reading 1 Acts 4:8-12:
Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said: “Leaders of the people and elders: If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a cripple, namely, by what means he was saved, then all of you and all the people of Israel should know that it was in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead; in his name this man stands before you healed.

National Shrine of St. JudeIn this week’s Gospel, Jesus miraculously appears before his disciples and asks them to trust in him and his resurrection. “Why are you troubled,” He says, “and why do questions arise in your hearts?” St. Jude also asks us to trust in him, especially in the face of doubt and difficulty.

Reading 1 Acts 3:13-15, 17-19:
Peter said to the people: “The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and denied in Pilate’s presence when he had decided to release him.

You denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. The author of life you put to death, but God raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses.
