Advent Meditations – Week Four

Advent

Send your Advent petitions to the ShrineThere’s still time to light a St. Jude Vigil Light for your special intentions during this Advent season. We will remember your petitions at the National Shrine of St. Jude.

God’s love for us is strong. He seeks us out, always drawing us closer to Him in faith. St. Jude accompanies us in our Advent preparation for the birth of Christ. He offers the light of hope in the darkness of winter.

We will be praying for you this Advent, as always. See below our daily Advent Meditations for this final week of Advent.

Weekly Devotion – December 12th

Weekly Devotions

National Shrine of St. JudeMaybe it doesn’t occur frequently, but there are times when things turn out so well for us that we may believe we are powerful or important. There are also times we find ourselves incapable of solving our problems and feel depressed. In Sunday’s readings we are advised not to lose our joy. That is our vocation as Christians. Our joy does not come from being able to do lots of things or from our own triumphs and victories.

Bible Diary for December 11th – 17th

Bible Diary

December 11
Sunday

3rd Sunday of Advent

1st Reading: Is 61:1–2a, 10–11
The Spirit of the Lord Yahweh is upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up broken hearts, to proclaim liberty to the captives, freedom to those languishing in prison; to announce the year of Yahweh’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God; to give comfort to all who grieve.

The National Shrine of St. Jude and the St. Jude League are a mission of The Claretians and exist to bring together devotees of St. Jude in a community of prayer and hope.
