Sunday
Mary Mother of God
Reading 1 Nm 6:22-27:
The LORD said to Moses: “Speak to Aaron and his sons and tell them: This is how you shall bless the Israelites.
Say to them: The LORD bless you and keep you! The LORD let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace! So shall they invoke my name upon the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

In Sunday’s second reading, Paul details the virtues we must cultivate: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness and above all else, love and gratitude. This reading presents a good examination of consciousness with regard to family life. When have we taken a harsher stance over kinder ones? In what moments have we neglected to express our gratitude for the things others do for us throughout the day?
Greetings of peace and joy! In many ways our Advent journey of “preparing the way of the Lord” is a time of darkness – literally, days are shorter and nights longer – and in prayer our darkness comes from the waiting we must do before our Savior arrives.
