We are one in Christ Jesus (Gal. 3:25)

Reflections from the Shrine

Our faith teaches us that we share intrinsic likeness with one another. God made us in his divine image; and shows absolute sensitivity to our needs and experiences, which is evident in the sharing of our lives by Jesus Christ (Phil. 2:7). In the same manner, we are to share in each other’s life, expressing how much we care. We are not alone in this world seeking our goals exclusively, rather, we are connected to one another in so many ways that our choices have the potential to affect another person directly or indirectly.

National Shrine of St. JudeOur reflection from the readings this week is:

“If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone were to rise from the dead.”

We are given everything we need to see and understand the greatness, the goodness, of God–creation, love, life, and the Gospels. We don’t need miracles to prove the existence of God.

Sunday

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

1st Reading: Am 6:1a, 4–7
Woe to those proud people who live, over-confident on the hill of Samaria!

Woe to you, men of renown, from the first among the nations, to whom the people of Israel come!

You lie on beds inlaid with ivory and sprawl on your couches; you eat lamb from the flock and veal from calves fattened in the stall.

The Grace of God has been Abundant (1Tim. 1:14)

Reflections from the Shrine

Paul writes to Timothy about the blessings of God in his life. Looking back on his life, Paul realized that he has been richly blessed and compassionately loved by God. He told Timothy that he use to be a murderer. He led a staunch and fierce opposition against a young and burgeoning Christian movement. Paul confesses “I was violently persecuting the church of God and was trying to destroy it” (Gal. 1:13).

Pray to St. JudeOur reflection from the readings this week is:

“Turn in a complete account of your handling of my property.”

We are put here for a purpose—to make this world better, to bring love and mercy, healing and compassion. We will be asked to account for when and how we did those things.

The National Shrine of St. Jude and the St. Jude League are a mission of The Claretians and exist to bring together devotees of St. Jude in a community of prayer and hope.
