St. Jude Prayer for Depression

Depression

give_him_thanksSt. Jude, friend to those in need, I am weary from grief and anxiety. I am often without joy, without hope, struggling through the dark night of the soul. I turn to you in prayer. Take away this emptiness and the pain of my broken heart. In your compassion, wipe away my tears and carry me to a place of peace. Too long have I been blind to the goodness of God’s world. Help me to take my life one day at a time, one moment at a time, and to be aware of God’s love for me always.

St. Jude Prayer of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

Pray to St. JudeI receive the gifts of God with a grateful spirit. St. Jude, help me to see the blessings that surround me and give me life. I offer you my prayer of thanksgiving. Give me the grace to be ever thankful for the love and mercy of God and the gift of life each day. May this gratitude inspire me to give generously in all ways to others.

St. Jude Prayer for Addiction

Addiction

Pray to St. JudeGod in heaven, help me to know your love includes me, even when I fail. Open my heart to your healing power. Come, Lord Jesus, and calm the waters of my soul just as you whispered “peace” to the stormy sea. St. Jude, most holy apostle, in my need I cry out to you. I pray that you will intercede for me so that I may find strength to overcome my weakness. Bless me with your mercy, and bless all those who struggle with addiction.

St. Jude Prayer for the Unemployed

Unemployment

Pray to St. JudeLord Jesus, my desire to work is itself your gift. You made me with talents so I could shine your light to all the world. Send your spirit to guide me to work that will provide security and joy, and most of all the ability to serve you in love. St. Jude, I do not know where I am going, so I turn to you for direction, hope, and courage.

Living with Faith in Today’s World

Reflections from the Shrine

stjudeIn the early church, as recounted in Acts 7, Stephen was a model of faith in the Easter proclamation. In the midst of fierce opposition led by a young and zealous Pharisee named Saul, the nascent church in Jerusalem scattered and scurried into safe territories around the Roman Empire (Acts 8:1). Stephen paid for his faith in Jesus as the Messiah and in his belief that Jesus had taken his place in the glory of God (Acts 7:55-58) with his life. Instead of frustrating his faith in Jesus, the hostile environment helped to build Stephen’s faith in Jesus and God’s promise.
