Prayers for the Catholic Church

Catholic Church

As the College of Cardinals gathers in Rome for the Papal Conclave, we ask you to send your prayers for the Catholic Church during this important election.

The Pope is a spiritual guide for millions of Catholics throughout the world, and inspires the work of the entire Catholic Church with his leadership. The Pope appoints bishops, calls councils, makes Church laws, and canonizes saints. In selecting the next Pope, the cardinals historically have chosen a member of their own ranks known for his love of God and commitment to the Church.

We at the National Shrine of St. Jude pray for God’s wisdom and guidance for the Catholic Church during this transition. We also pray for Pope Benedict XVI as he enters retirement.

The Claretian Missionaries, who built the National Shrine of St. Jude in 1929 and continue to maintain it, work to build a better future for as many of God’s people as possible. We hope you will join us in asking St. Jude, the Patron Saint of Hope, to keep the Church in his continuing care as we elect a new Pope.
